The Real Reason Your Decisions Feel Like Life or Death (And What to Do About It)

Let me ask you something.

When you think about raising your prices, pitching yourself, or making a bold move in your business, where do you feel it? Not think it. Feel it.

Because I can almost guarantee it's not just in your head.

For so many of us founders, decision-making doesn't feel like strategy. It feels like survival. And I don't mean that metaphorically. I mean your nervous system literally cannot tell the difference between picking a price for your offer and being chased by a lion. Everything feels high-stakes. Everything feels like life or death. And until we understand why that is, no amount of strategy, planning, or journaling is going to get us unstuck.

This is exactly what I held space for inside our Women Who Network workshop — and I want to bring it to you here, because I think it might be the thing you didn't know you needed to hear.

There's Nothing Wrong With You

Before anything else, I need you to hear this: there is nothing to fix.

You are not broken. You are not behind. You are not "bad at business" because you freeze when it's time to make a decision or because you've been sitting on the same pricing dilemma for six months. You are whole. You have always been whole. What's happening is that parts of you, your nervous system, your conditioning, your stories are working against your alignment instead of with it.

And that's not a character flaw. That's a pattern. And patterns can be changed.

Why Strategy Alone Wasn't Working For Me

I built my entire method the Holistically Embodied Business Method because I had to.

As a woman, as an immigrant, as a Latina, every business strategy I was handed left out the most important part: my body. My context. The intricacies of where I come from, the culture I carry, the traumas that showed up not just in my mind but in my muscles, my chest, my gut. Nobody was accounting for that. So the strategy would be laid out perfectly on paper and I would find resistance at every turn. Not because I wasn't capable. Because my body didn't feel safe enough to move forward.

And here's what I eventually learned: the body is not an obstacle to building your business. It is the navigation system.

The Moment I Got My Highest-Paying Client And Almost Fell Apart

I remember the first time a client paid me $10,000. Three months of working together. I had pitched myself, I had gone out and gotten it. My mind was like, you did it. You're good.

And then I got into bed and couldn't get out for six months.

No one could explain it. My coaches gave me strategy. Hire someone. Work harder. Pivot your offer. And nothing landed because what was happening had nothing to do with my business model. My body had decided this was dangerous. This was too new. This was too far outside of anything I had ever seen modelled for me.

Because my parents never made more than $2,000 or $3,000 a month in their entire lives. They cleaned toilets. They broke their backs and their knees. And here I was, behind a computer, making more than them in a single contract. My body didn't know what to do with that. The grief of it, the guilt of it,I didn't even know I was carrying it until I sat with it.

That is the work. That is what we're not talking about enough.

What's Actually Underneath the Decision

When you're struggling to make an aligned decision in your business, here's what's usually happening:

Your nervous system is in a fear response. It's not being dramatic. It's doing its job trying to keep you safe. But if you don't know what your fear response looks and feels like in your body, you can't work with it. You just get swallowed by it.

Your conditioning is running the show. A lot of the decisions we make aren't actually ours. They come from who we were told to be by our families, our culture, our religion, society. The "I should do this" voice? That is often not you. That is a script someone handed you years ago that you accepted as your own identity.

You're waiting for certainty before you act. And here's the thing, aligned decisions don't come with certainty first. Certainty(Clarity + material proof it will work) arrives after action. The knowing comes before the logic. And when you're deep in true alignment, your mind sometimes can't even explain it. It just says: trust this. Take the first step.

What Alignment Actually Feels Like

It is not just intuition. It is not just logic. It is both head and heart moving together.

Your heart makes the decision. Your mind starts building the plan around it. And your body? Your body is the thing that tells you whether you're in alignment or whether you're just performing alignment because it sounds good.

This is why I always bring my clients back to the body. Not to spiritually bypass the practical work. But because the body holds information the mind doesn't have access to. And when you learn to listen to it, you stop spending months spinning in indecision and start moving with clarity, with grounding, with real power behind every choice you make.

A Simple Practice to Try Right Now

The next time you're facing a decision any decision I want you to try this filter before you think your way through it.

Bring it to your body first.

Close your eyes. Think about the decision. Notice where you feel it physically. Your chest? Your stomach? Your throat? Your shoulders?

Then ask yourself three questions:

  1. What is my fear saying? Don't push it away. Breathe into it. Touch the spot where you feel it. Say: I feel you. I see you. We are safe. Fear is not your enemy, it's a protective voice that just needs to be acknowledged. Most of the time, that's all it needs.

  2. What is my conditioned self saying? What "shoulds" are coming up? Whose voice is that, really? Notice it. Breathe into it. Say: I hear you, but I'm not you.

  3. What is my aligned, expansive self saying? Now shift your attention to what possibility feels like in your body. Where does it land when something feels right? Your chest opening? A warmth? A sense of clarity or lightness? Feed that. Give it your breath and your attention because we've been trained to feed the fear. We have to consciously practice feeding the expansion.

Let all three voices speak. Don't shut any of them down. When you silence the fear, you accidentally silence alignment too. The goal is to let them all be heard and then choose which one gets to drive.

You Already Know

One of the most powerful things I've come to believe and watch play out in my clients over and over is that we already know what we want. We already know what the aligned decision is. What we're really working on is building the safety to trust it. Building the self-trust to act on it before we have all the answers. Building the capacity to sit in the tension of a good decision instead of running back to the familiar.

That tension? It's not a sign you made the wrong choice. It's a sign you're growing into something bigger than where you've been.

The discomfort of expansion can feel a lot like danger. But your body can learn the difference and when it does, everything changes.
